Softball Preview: Wesleyan Christian Academy Trojans vs. Bethany Wolves
The Wesleyan Christian Academy Trojans are on the road again on Monday to play the Bethany Wolves at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Wesleyan Christian Academy scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Concord Academy with a sharp 20-2 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Alexis Emery made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Emery has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Emery was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Wesleyan Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Juli Abantohollans, who scored four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kayla Raimondi, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, a triple, and a double.
Meanwhile, Bethany got the win against Carver in Friday's second game by a conclusive 21-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Bethany.
Emily Berger was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Waddell, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.
Wesleyan Christian Academy's record is now 6-3. As for Bethany, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
