The Key West Conchs will head out on the road to take on the American Patriots at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Key West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Key West had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Mater Bay Academy on Wednesday. The Conchs were the clear victors by a 20-5 margin over the Rays. The Conchs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.
Brianna Brenner looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Key West got a massive performance out of Tavyn Gage, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-6. Those three hits gave Gage a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaleaya Dickerson, who scored three runs while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.
Key West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, American entered their tilt with Ferguson on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Falcons.
Jamerikal Darden made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Darden was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple.
Key West is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for American, their record is now 11-5.
Both Key West and American just can't seem to miss. The Conchs have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like American struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Key West took their victory against American in their previous meeting back in February of 2019 by a conclusive 9-0 score. Do the Conchs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
