Baseball Recap: Grants Pass Cavemen vs. South Medford Panthers
Grants Pass had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 5-9 to make it four. They fell just short of the South Medford Panthers by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cavemen have suffered since March 20th.
As for South Medford, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch.
For South Medford's part, the team relied heavily on Keegan Painter, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Painter has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Douglas, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.
