Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln Cougars vs. Fairmont Senior Polar Bears

Lincoln is 0-10 against Fairmont Senior since February of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the Lincoln Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Fairmont Senior Polar Bears at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Lincoln is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They lost to Robert C. Byrd on the road by a 47-29 margin. The matchup marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Fairmont Senior's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They received a blow as they fell 58-43 to Buckhannon-Upshur. The Polar Bears were down 40-20 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Fairmont Senior, their defeat ended a 13-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-2.

Lincoln couldn't quite finish off Fairmont Senior in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 and fell 52-49. Can Lincoln avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
