Volleyball Recap: Shelby Whippets vs. Columbian Tornadoes
Shelby was the 3-1 winner over Columbian when they last played one another back in October of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Whippets came up short against the Tornadoes on Tuesday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Whippets have suffered since August 29, 2024.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-23, 25-22.
Alex Lay paced Shelby's offense, picking up 13 kills. Lay got some help from Aubrey Lay and her 25 assists. Finally, Madison Henkel kept Shelby's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.
Emma Daugherty was the offensive standout of the game as she had 19 digs and three assists. That's the most assists she has posted since back in October of 2024.
Shelby's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Columbian, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Shelby wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Galion on the 21st. As for Columbian, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Huron on the 21st.
