Volleyball Recap: Shelby Comes Up Short

Shelby had taken Columbian down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Whippets came up short against the Tornadoes, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Whippets have suffered since August 29, 2024.

The final score came out to 25-16, 25-23, 25-22.

Alex Lay paced Shelby's offense, picking up 13 kills. Lay got some help from Aubrey Lay and her 25 assists. Finally, Madison Henkel kept Shelby's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Shelby's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Columbian, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Looking ahead, Shelby will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Galion at 7:00 p.m. This will be the Whippets' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Columbian, they will head out to face off against Huron at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
