League recap: Atterholt overpowering for West Middlesex in past week

District 10 Region 2 league recap: 5/22/13

Riley Atterholt was the best pitcher in District 10 Region 2 this week, leading West Middlesex. Over the past week, he had one win and 15 Ks.

Mark Colella was on fire this week, as he led the league with a .583 average, two home runs and four RBIs. The Big Reds compiled a record of 1-1 in that time.

Hickory's pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only 14 hits and three walks, both of which led the league.

Sharpsville, the league's stolen base leader this season with 54, added to its lead in that category with 19 more steals over the past week.

The league boasted 22 .400 hitters over the past week. They were led by GREG POPATAK, who hit .800 this week (4-for-5).

Greg Popatak drove in six runs for the Blue Devils over the past seven days. He has 29 RBIs this season, tops in the league.



Neal Engstrom struck out eight in Reynolds's 4-1 win over Grove City on May 16. Over seven innings of work, he gave up four hits and one run.

Bryan Stafford drove in six runners as Sharpsville defeated Mercer 18-3 on Wednesday. He went 3-for-4 and scored two runs.
