Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Lovejoy

Lovejoy won against Riverdale last Tuesday with 51 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Lovejoy Wildcats walked away with a 51-41 victory over the Wilkinson County Warriors. The win was familiar territory for the Wildcats who have now won three contests in a row.

Lovejoy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Javion Barkley led the charge by going 6 for 13 on his way to 16 points. Jeremiah Evans was another key player, putting up eight points and 12 boards.

Lovejoy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in ten consecutive matches.

Lovejoy's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Wilkinson County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-5.

Lovejoy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 73-38 win against Academy for Classical Education on the 28th. As for Wilkinson County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-49 victory against Crawford County on the 28th.
