Basketball Game Preview: Swenson Arts & Tech Lion vs. KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy

The Swenson Arts & Tech Lion will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Thursday, Swenson Arts & Tech ended up a good deal behind Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush and lost 62-44.

Despite the defeat, Swenson Arts & Tech saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Eli Charles posted 24 points. Those 24 points gave Charles a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Khaleem Williams, who put up nine points.

Meanwhile, KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 58-47 to Science Leadership Academy.

Swenson Arts & Tech will have to keep a close watch on Sayid Cooley and Mekhi Anderson, a pair of players who had a big impact on KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy's prior game. Cooley had 16 points, while Anderson posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Ralim Brown, who earned seven points.

Swenson Arts & Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Everything came up roses for Swenson Arts & Tech against KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 71-39 win.
