Baseball Recap: Crete Cardinals vs. Nebraska City Pioneers
After flying high against York on Monday, Crete came back down to earth. The Cardinals took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nebraska City Pioneers on Tuesday. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pioneers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Crete saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Wendt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Crete's loss dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Nebraska City, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-12.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Crete will take on rival Platteview at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Nebraska City is set to face off against their familiar foe Elkhorn at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
