Baseball Game Preview: Averill Park Warriors vs. Columbia Blue Devils

The Averill Park Warriors will take on the Columbia Blue Devils at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Columbia took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Averill Park, who comes in off a win.

Averill Park barely beat South Glens Falls the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors' pitchers stepped up to hand the Bulldogs an 11-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Warriors have won four games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Columbia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Christian Brothers Academy, falling 18-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Blue Devils have suffered since May 18, 2024.

Columbia got a good showing from Dillon Mulligan, who tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Ronan Kreshik made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Jackson Stilson was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs.

Averill Park is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-5-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Columbia, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
