Basketball Recap: Manteno Snags Tenth Victory in Last 12 Games

It was a proper cat-fight when Manteno faced off against Herscher on Friday. The Manteno Panthers walked away with a 48-41 victory over the Herscher Tigers. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

When it comes to explaining why Herscher lost, don't look at Jacob Mccree. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 12 on his way to 12 points in addition to six boards and four blocks. With that strong performance, Mccree is now averaging an impressive 2.1 blocks per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Buckley, who posted 11 points.

Manteno has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Herscher, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-11.

Manteno will take on Bishop McNamara at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Manteno sitting on five straight wins and Bishop McNamara on three. As for Herscher, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 38-33 victory against Iroquois West on the 11th.
