Baseball Game Preview: Platte Valley vs. Raymond Central Mustangs

Platte Valley is a perfect 3-0 against Raymond Central since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. Platte Valley will face off against Raymond Central at 4:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Platte Valley had taken Platteview down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. Platte Valley lost 11-3 to Platteview. That's two games in a row now that Platte Valley has lost by exactly eight runs.

Meanwhile, Raymond Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Central City/Centura, falling 16-5.

Raymond Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tucker Matulka, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Mackson Smith also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Raymond Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Platte Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Platte Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Raymond Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Platte Valley since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
