Softball Recap: Midlothian Panthers vs. Centennial Spartans

Midlothian dropped their record down to 20-8-1 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They lost 17-9 to the Centennial Spartans. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 4-3 to the Spartans when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Midlothian got a good showing from Paige Insley, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Insley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jocelyn Martinez stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Copeland, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

On Centennial's side, they got a massive performance out of Ryanne Stephens, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Stephens has posted since back in May of 2024. Lexie Arthur was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Midlothian has already played their next game, a 20-2 win against Chaparral on the 25th. As for Centennial, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 21-0 victory against Arlington Heights on the 26th.
