Baseball Recap: Foothill Tech Find Success

Foothill Tech was handed a 13-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Oxnard Yellowjackets. For the Dragons, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 win the Yellowjackets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Shane White made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

White wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jacory Smith, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another was Robert Juker, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Foothill Tech now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Oxnard, the defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 3-3.

Foothill Tech has already played their next matchup, a 4-0 victory against St. Monica on the 1st. As for Oxnard, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will take on Pacifica at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pacifica will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Oxnard surely won't give up without a fight.
