Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Campbell Lunsford and Abby Johns Lead George Washington to Victory

If Capital wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played George Washington, they should've done a better job of containing Natali Tomblin. The Patriots narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Cougars 2-1 thanks in part to Tomblin, who had 16 digs and six aces. She is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

George Washington had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-22, 25-18.

George Washington was led to victory by Abby Johns and Campbell Lunsford. Johns had 13 digs and two aces, while Lunsford had six digs. Those six digs gave Lunsford a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: George Washington was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in three consecutive matches.

George Washington picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-3-1. As for Capital, they now have a losing record of 2-3-1.

After both having extra time off, George Washington and Winfield will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Capital, they have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Wayne on the 28th.
