Baseball Recap: Wyoming East Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Wyoming East, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the WestSide Renegades a 13-0 shutout on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Wyoming East got a big performance out of Miken Smyth, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Zach Hunt, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Wyoming East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April.

Wyoming East pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for WestSide, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Wyoming East will be playing at home against Bluefield at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for WestSide, they are taking a road trip to square off against Scott at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Skyhawks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Renegades' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
