Softball Recap: Montrose Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Montrose and Byron, and Byron kept the tradition alive. The Rams came up short against the Eagles on Monday, falling 12-0. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Rams' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Montrose saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caitlyn Thornburg, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Montrose's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Byron, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-3 record.

The future could be bright for both Montrose and Byron: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Rams will try to hand St. Charles their third-straight defeat when the two meet at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Byron will look to extend Vassar's seven-game losing streak when they meet at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
