Soccer Game Preview: Oneonta vs. Cherokee County

The Oneonta Redskins will head out to take on the Cherokee County Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Oneonta will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Friday, then bounced right back against Etowah on Tuesday. Oneonta's defense stepped up to hand Etowah a 7-0 shutout. That looming 7-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Redskins yet this season.

Meanwhile, Cherokee County and Donoho finished up their contest with a 3-3 draw two weeks ago.

Oneonta has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-1-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those four matches. With that draw, Cherokee County's record moves to 1-3-2.

Everything went Oneonta's way against Cherokee County in their previous matchup back in February of 2020, as Oneonta made off with a 6-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oneonta since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
