Baseball Recap: Marian Catholic Takes a Loss

Marian Catholic lost against Richards back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Spartans took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The match marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Matt Rusin was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Matt Gonzalez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Marian Catholic's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Richards, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Marian Catholic will take on St. Rita at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Richards, they will face off against Andrew at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
