Baseball Game Preview: Shenendehowa Plainsmen vs. Colonie Central Wolfpack

Shenendehowa is 8-1 against Colonie Central since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Plainsmen will be playing at home against the Wolfpack at 4:15 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Shenendehowa came out on top against Guilderland on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Plainsmen blew past the Flying Dutchmen 8-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Plainsmen have posted against the Flying Dutchmen since May 28, 2021.

Shenendehowa got a great performance from Maximus Palermo as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Palermo has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Andrew Redick was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Amaar Bhusri was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Colonie Central entered their tilt with Rome Free Academy on Friday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Black Knights. While the Wolfpack didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Colonie Central's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Shenendehowa, the victory got them back to even at 2-2-1.

Shenendehowa took their win against Colonie Central in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 17-1 score. Will the Plainsmen repeat their success, or do the Wolfpack have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
