Baseball Game Preview: Jacobs Eagles vs. Huntley Red Raiders

Jacobs is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Huntley is on an eight-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Eagles will host the Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Jacobs 3.9, Huntley 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

While Jacobs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 15-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They had just enough and edged out McHenry 6-5 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since March 30th.

George Donze spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned runs on seven hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Jacobs' win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brock Vincent, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Huntley earned an 11-6 victory over Cary-Grove on Wednesday.

Jacobs' win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Huntley, their victory bumped their record up to 16-1.

Jacobs was able to grind out a solid win over Huntley when the teams last played back in May of 2025, winning 15-10. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
