Soccer Game Preview: Albemarle vs. Gray Stone Day

Albemarle hasn't had much luck against Gray Stone Day recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Albemarle put up the most goals they have all season on Wednesday. They blew past South Stanly 5-1. Dayana Santos was a massive factor in the win as she booted in four goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, it may have taken extra minutes to finish the job, but Gray Stone Day ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Mount Pleasant 4-3. With that victory, Gray Stone Day brought their scoring average up to 2.6 goals per game.

Gray Stone Day pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 24 goals over those five matchups. As for Albemarle, the win got them back to even at 3-3-1.

Albemarle might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Gray Stone Day in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
