Football Recap: Jay Skates Past Nixon with Ease

Jay won the last time they faced Nixon and things went their way on Thursday too. Jay really took it to Nixon for the full four quarters, racking up a 38-7 win. The result was nothing new for Jay, who have now won three games by 29 points or more so far this season.

Tajari Wellington went supernova, throwing for 243 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 passes, while also rushing for 80 yards and one TD on only nine carries. That's the most passing touchdowns he has posted since back in November of 2024. Jay also got help from Danny Orosco, who showed off his sure hands for 86 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Jay was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 248 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nixon only rushed for 102.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Jay's defense and their 5.5 sacks. Kyle Jackson was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three himself.

When it comes to explaining why Nixon lost, don't look at Emiliano Hernandez. Despite the final result, he picked up 31 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 53 yards.

Jay pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.3 points over those games. As for Nixon, they moved to 5-3 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
