Football Recap: Sasakwa Skates Past Life Christian with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Caddo, Sasakwa was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Life Christian Eagles 56-26. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Vikings also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sasakwa to victory, but perhaps none more so than Darius Henderson, who rushed for 59 yards and a pair of scores, and also picked up 63 receiving yards and one TD. Henderson also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making seven total tackles and defending one pass. Another passer making a difference was Thaddeus Harjo, who threw for 152 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sasakwa was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 264 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Another reason for the win was Sasakwa's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Sherman Mitchell, Joseph Lunn, and Francisco Gutierrez, who each picked up one sack apiece. Sasakwa got some further help from Lunn: he picked up a sack and made nine total tackles.

Sasakwa now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Life Christian, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Looking ahead, Sasakwa will square off against Bowlegs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Vikings their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Life Christian, they will challenge Olive at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
