Basketball Preview: Barrington Eagles vs. Smithfield Sentinels
Barrington has been on the road for two straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Smithfield Sentinels at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Barrington has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 214 points over their last three matches.
On Monday, Barrington faced the Clippers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Barrington took down the Clippers 59-42.
Barrington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Matt Raffa led the charge by scoring 18 points. Another player making a difference was Evan Anderson, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Smithfield ended up a good deal behind the Rams on Monday and lost 66-52.
Barrington's victory bumped their record up to 17-1. As for Smithfield, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.
Barrington didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Sentinels in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 62-57 victory. Will Barrington repeat their success, or do the Sentinels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
