Baseball Game Preview: Minooka Indians vs. Lincoln-Way East Griffins

The Minooka Indians are taking a road trip to square off against the Lincoln-Way East Griffins at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Minooka 2.4, Lincoln-Way East 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Minooka fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Plainfield North on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-2. The Indians' loss signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Lincoln-Way East came tearing into Wednesday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Chargers by a score of 7-4.

Lincoln-Way East pushed their record up to 21-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Minooka, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 23-3.

Minooka was able to grind out a solid win over Lincoln-Way East in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
