It's playoff time, and Highland had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Hammond Bishop Noll Warriors on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Trojans sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Caden VanderMeyden was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Justin Slaven was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nate Phillips, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
