Football Game Preview: East Surry Cardinals vs. Surry Central Golden Eagles + How To Watch

East Surry has gone 8-1 against Surry Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. East Surry will be strutting in after a victory while Surry Central will be coming in after a defeat.

East Surry is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped last Friday as they easily beat North Forsyth 48-20.

East Surry's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nathan Kiger, who rushed for 219 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 11.5 yards per carry. Those 219 rushing yards gave Kiger a new career-high. JB Davis was another key signal caller, throwing for 110 yards and three TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes.

East Surry didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited North Forsyth to a completion percentage of just 41.7%. Given Davis' standout performance, it's clear the Vikings' secondary just wasn't on the same level.

Meanwhile, Surry Central was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Trinity, falling 48-24. The Golden Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-8.

Surry Central's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for East Surry, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Friday's contest might be decided in the trenches. East Surry has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 206 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Surry Central, though, as they've been averaging only 76.6 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?

Everything came up roses for East Surry against Surry Central when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 61-22 win. Do the Cardinals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
