The University Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Fremont Pathfinders at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
University is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Hollywood 17-3 on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Dylan Morales made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Jacob Santos was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. DJ Pichetrungsi was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
University always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Fremont got the win against Santee on Thursday by a conclusive 11-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pathfinders.
Like University, Fremont also got a great game from a two-way player: Jahdiel Roberts. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Roberts was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, James Harris was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Pedro Coranado, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Fremont pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for University, their record now sits at 3-1.
University came up short against Fremont in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, falling 4-1. Can University avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
