Basketball Recap: Sam Esposito Key Part of a Team Effort in Warriors Win

Centaurus won the last time they faced Roosevelt and things went their way on Saturday too. The Centaurus Warriors walked away with a 52-43 victory over the Roosevelt Roughriders.

Centaurus got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sam Esposito out in front who went 5 of 12 on his way to 18 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Esposito has scored at least a third of Centaurus' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Jones, who posted eight points and eight rebounds.

Roosevelt lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Nolan Peterson, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 16 points. That's the most points Peterson has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Landyn McCann, who had two points and six rebounds.

Centaurus' record now sits at 4-2. As for Roosevelt, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.

Centaurus and Steamboat Springs will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Centaurus is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.3 points per game this season. As for Roosevelt, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 83-40 victory against Wellington on the 16th.
