Casa Grande is a perfect 10-0 against Justin-Siena since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Gauchos will face off against the Braves at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Casa Grande has five straight victories, Justin-Siena has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Casa Grande's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Petaluma. Casa Grande's win was all the more impressive since the Trojans were averaging only 3.16 runs allowed on the season.
Lila Partridge made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
In other batting news, Lucy Da Roza was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Alex Giacomini was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Casa Grande lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Justin-Siena came up short against Napa on Friday, falling 9-3.
Caiden Grimmer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakota Tinsley, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
Casa Grande's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Justin-Siena, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.
Justin-Siena's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Casa Grande has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Justin-Siena, though, as they've been averaging only 2.6 strikeouts. Will Casa Grande keep running through batters, or will the Braves buck the trend?
Everything went Casa Grande's way against Justin-Siena in their previous matchup on April 4th, as Casa Grande made off with a 14-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gauchos since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
