Recap: North Davidson Black Knights vs. Southwestern Randolph Cougars
The North Davidson Black Knights won the last time they faced the Southwestern Randolph Cougars, and things went their way on Tuesday too. North Davidson came out on top against Southwestern Randolph by a score of 64-51. Given North Davidson's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while Southwestern Randolph is ranked 568th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
North Davidson was led to victory by Drew Hege and Kamauri Manuel. Hege scored 16 points, while Manuel scored ten points along with six assists and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Forrest, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Southwestern Randolph lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brayden Chapman, who scored 16 points. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Nathan Ellis, who scored six points along with eight assists and three steals.
Even though they lost, Southwestern Randolph were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
The victory makes it two in a row for North Davidson and bumps their season record up to 6-2. As for Southwestern Randolph, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Davidson will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against West Davidson at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th. Southwestern Randolph won't have much time to rest: their next match is against East Davidson at 7:30 p.m. on December 13th. East Davidson is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
