Recap: Columbus East Olympians vs. New Albany Bulldogs
The Columbus East Olympians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 72-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of New Albany. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Columbus East in their matchups with New Albany: they've now lost seven in a row.
Several Olympians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Danny Coriden, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Coriden has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Keaton Lawson, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine assists.
Even though they lost, Columbus East were working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Columbus East's loss was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-14. As for New Albany, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Columbus East will be playing in front of their home fans against Silver Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Columbus East focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Saturday. As for New Albany, they will head out on the road to challenge Providence at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. New Albany knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 games -- so hopefully Providence likes a good challenge.
