Basketball Recap: Channing Wilson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fort Thomas over St. Michael

Fort Thomas was the 62-21 winner over St. Michael when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Fort Thomas Apaches fell just short of the St. Michael Cardinals by a score of 61-58 on Saturday.

Fort Thomas lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Channing Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 14 rebounds. The match was Wilson's third in a row with at least 26 points. Michael Olivar was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Fort Thomas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Fort Thomas' defeat dropped their record down to 19-10. As for St. Michael, their win bumped their record up to 7-13.

Fort Thomas has already played their next contest, an 81-35 victory against San Manuel on the 4th. As for St. Michael, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 57-48 loss against Rock Point on the 5th.
