Berks Inter-County 1 recap Oct. 16, 2012

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Pottsville, who took down 352nd ranked Pottsville, 26-8.

Governor Mifflin was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in Berks Inter-County 1. Earlier in the week, the Mustangs defeated Reading 35-12.

Governor Mifflin's dynamic duo of Jan Johnson and Thomas Depaul proved tough for the Knights to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Johnson threw for 124 yards and three touchdowns and Depaul had 89 yards receiving. Trey Dunkelberger helped Governor Mifflin's passing attack out by catching one ball for 35 yards.

Kyle Yocum provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Exeter Township beat Muhlenberg. He completed eight passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 69 yards. Yocum's favorite target this week was Alex Dundore, who caught two passes for 55 yards.

Matt Connelly was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 178 yards on 15 carries as the Eagles bested Reading.

Thanks to the talents of Nick Schoener and Angle Cruz Conrad Weiser has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Schoener leads the league in passing with 784 yards, while Cruz has rushed for 869 yards this season. Exeter Township's Dundore leads the league in receiving yards with 260 on 10 catches.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Muhls take on the Scouts. As it stands, Muhlenberg is in third, while Conrad Weiser is in first.

The Mustangs extended the longest winning streak in Berks Inter-County 1 this week by beating Robert Flowers' team, 35-12. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
