Softball Recap: Steeleville Victorious

Steeleville won the last time they faced New Athens and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Warriors came out on top against the Yellow Jackets by a score of 4-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Corinne Mueller made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

Mueller wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zoey Wolf, who went 3-for-4 with one run. That's the most hits Wolf has posted since back in April.

Steeleville's record is now 7-8. As for New Athens, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

Coincidentally, Steeleville and New Athens will both be playing Marissa/Coulterville the next time they take the field. The Warriors will host the Meteors at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Yellow Jackets will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
