Basketball Recap: Hoover Huskies vs. Princeton Tigers
The Hoover Huskies came up short against the Princeton Tigers on Saturday, falling 66-45.
Despite the defeat, Hoover saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bella Haas shot 50% from the field en route to 16 points. Another player making a difference was Ayva Veltri, who posted 17 points.
Carley Hurt was a one-woman wrecking crew for Princeton as she went 6-for-13 on her way to 17 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Hurt continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Asia Collins was another key player, shooting 55% from the field to rack up 14 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Hoover's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Princeton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
Hoover didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-41 defeat against Nitro on the 26th. As for Princeton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-33 loss against Woodrow Wilson on the 24th.
