Baseball Recap: Church Point Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Church Point had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Berchmans Academy on Friday. The Church Point Bears blew past the Berchmans Academy Saints 13-2. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.

Waylon Castille spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack Venable, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Caiden B, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Church Point, bringing their record for this year to 14-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Berchmans Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Church Point will head out on the road to challenge Iota at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Berchmans Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Opelousas Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
