Baseball Game Preview: Crawfordsville Athenians vs. North Montgomery Chargin' Chargers

For the second straight game, Crawfordsville will face off against North Montgomery. The Athenians will head out to take on the Chargin' Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

While Crawfordsville's victory against North Montgomery wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Athenians sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Chargin' Chargers on Tuesday. The Athenians haven't had any issues with the Chargin' Chargers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Jude Coursey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up six Ks. Crawfordsville is 3-1 when Coursey allows one or fewer earned runs, but 5-8-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Crawfordsville's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sam Minnette, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

North Montgomery's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-7. As for Crawfordsville, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9-1.
