Preview: Meridian Wildcats vs. Ridgeland Titans
The Meridian Wildcats will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Ridgeland Titans at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Meridian sitting on four straight wins and Ridgeland on three.
Last Tuesday, Meridian faced Columbus in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Meridian walked away with a 55-47 victory over Columbus.
Meanwhile, Ridgeland didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Starkville on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 43-39 victory.
Ridgeland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Phil Nelson out in front who scored 15 points. The game was Nelson's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Stevent Watkins, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Meridian's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Ridgeland, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
