Soccer Game Preview: West vs. Alta

West is 0-5 against Alta since May of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Panthers will square off against the Hawks at 3:30 p.m. West's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between West and Olympus, and West kept the tradition alive. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Titans 3-2. West wouldn't have won without Andy Peterson, who scored the game-winner.

Meanwhile, Alta kept a clean sheet against Highland on Friday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Rams. Given Alta's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah soccer rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Highland are ranked 65th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory made it two in a row for Alta and bumps their season record up to 12-2. As for West, their record is now 5-8.

West suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Alta in their previous meeting back in March. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Panthers were down 3-0.
