Softball Game Preview: Monmouth Academy Mustangs vs. Oak Hill Raiders

The Monmouth Academy Mustangs will venture away from home to challenge the Oak Hill Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Monmouth Academy will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

On Wednesday, Monmouth Academy made easy work of Maine Central Institute and carried off a 7-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Shannah Parsons made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Rileigh Chase was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. Chase is crushing it when it comes to triples: she's hit at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Oak Hill didn't have quite enough to beat Lisbon on Monday and fell 5-4. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Oak Hill saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Rivet, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Rivet has hit this season. Another was Carlee Austin, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Monmouth Academy pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Oak Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
