Basketball Recap: River Mill Takes a Loss

River Mill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 55-12 loss at the hands of the Woods Charter Wolves. The Jaguars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-6.

Woods Charter found their leader in sophomore Alden Phelps, who went 5 of 8 en route to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Haygood, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 10 points and five rebounds.

River Mill's loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Woods Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the River Mill Jaguars take on the Triangle Math & Science Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Woods Charter, they will head out on the road to face off against Chatham Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Woods Charter is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
