Baseball Game Preview: Eugene Eagles vs. Eldon Mustangs

The Eugene Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Eldon Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Eugene will be strutting in after a win while Eldon will be coming in after a loss.

Eugene came out on top against Fayette on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Falcons. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Eldon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Centralia, falling 12-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Mustangs have suffered against the Panthers since April 21, 2018.

Eldon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hudson Gernenz, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Eldon's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Eugene, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Eugene couldn't quite get it done against Eldon when the teams last played back in April of 2025 as they fell 9-4. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
