Recap: Fredericktown Freddies vs. Centerburg Trojans
The Fredericktown Freddies lost against the Centerburg Trojans last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Fredericktown took a 49-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Centerburg. While losing is never fun, Fredericktown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while Centerburg is ranked 161st).
Despite the defeat, Fredericktown saw an underclassman step up: Mya Bryant scored 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Bryant has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Algire, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Fredericktown's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-9. As for Centerburg, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-3.
Fredericktown will look to defend their home court on Monday against Loudonville at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Fredericktown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Thursday. As for Centerburg, they will head out on the road to face off against Licking Heights at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Centerburg is coming into the contest with six straight wins on the road, so Licking Heights is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
