Volleyball Recap: Winnetonka Comes Up Short

After flying high against Raytown South on Thursday, Winnetonka came back down to earth. The Griffins took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chrisman Bears on Monday. The Griffins have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-22, 24-26, 25-15.

Layla Maxwell paced Winnetonka's offense, picking up nine kills. Maxwell got some help from Shayla Nguyen and her 74 assists. MacKenzie Turner controlled things from the service line, finishing with seven aces.

Winnetonka's loss dropped their record down to 7-9-1. As for Chrisman, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-14-1 record this season.

Winnetonka will be playing at home against Kearney at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chrisman, they will welcome Ruskin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
