Softball Game Preview: Texas Tigers vs. Lufkin Panthers

Texas hasn't had much luck against Lufkin recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Texas 4, Lufkin 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Texas is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Jacksonville 21-2 on Tuesday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, after a string of 15 wins, Lufkin's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hallsville. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

The win (which was Texas' third in a row) raised their record to 18-7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Lufkin, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 12-1 and their overall record down to 21-4.
