Flag Football Game Preview: Groves Rebels vs. Claxton Tigers

The Groves Rebels will challenge the Claxton Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Groves will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.

If Claxton heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Groves took over last week. The Rebels came out on top against Calvary Day by a score of 13-6 on Monday.

Among those leading the charge was Tamiya Washington, who threw for 165 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 34 yards. She also deserves a shoutout for her performance on D, making three total tackles and defending three passes in addition to snagging an interception.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Claxton). They walked away with a 20-7 win over Statesboro on Wednesday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Tigers with their most commanding win of the season.

Groves' victory bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Claxton, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Groves didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Claxton in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, but they still walked away with a 12-7 victory. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
