Softball Recap: Mission Vista Takes a Loss

Mission Vista didn't have quite enough to beat the Carlsbad Lancers on Tuesday and fell 3-2.

Rian Hickman put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

Mission Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Carlsbad, their win bumped their record up to 2-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mission Vista will challenge La Costa Canyon at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mavericks' pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so Mission Vista's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Carlsbad, they will face off against Torrey Pines at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Falcons will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
