Basketball Game Preview: Wenonah Dragons vs. Fultondale Wildcats

The Wenonah Dragons will venture away from home to take on the Fultondale Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wenonah will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

Wenonah is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Northside: they outscored them in every quarter. Wenonah took down Northside 52-36 last Monday. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Rams are ranked 138th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wenonah's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Samarian Franklin, who went 9 of 17 on her way to 20 points along with eight assists and seven boards, and Aariyanah Parker, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds. The contest was Franklin's 13th in a row with at least ten points. Dahja Tinsley was another key player, putting up six points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Wenonah smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fultondale). They blew past Tarrant 71-20 on Tuesday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded Fultondale with their most commanding win of the season.

Fultondale's record now sits at 9-13. As for Wenonah, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Wenonah against Fultondale in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 63-28 victory. In that contest, Wenonah amassed a halftime lead of 42-15, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
